Our Mission

Zeh L’Zeh rescues fresh, quality food before it goes to waste and makes it available to families in need — with privacy, choice and dignity. Through a private, live online platform, families select the food their households can actually use and pick it up on their own schedule. More than a food program, Zeh L’Zeh provides reliable, year-round support to families throughout the community.

Over 100 Volunteers! Are recruited in the rescue mission of saving food in the value of millions of dollars and distributing it to our fellow needy families.

What We Achieved

Zeh L’Zeh serves more than 325 families—over 1,750 individuals—every week. More than 100 active volunteers help rescue food from over 50 steady donor locations and keep hundreds of weekly pickups moving. Through our private online platform, families can choose from more than 250 available food items and receive custom orders based on their household’s needs.

How Zeh L'Zeh Works

Food becomes available throughout the day and night from stores, mosdos, simchos, caterers and bakeries. A volunteer driver accepts the pickup and brings it to Zeh L'Zeh, where it is checked, sorted, labeled and added to our live inventory. Families then privately select what their households need, and each custom order is packed for a scheduled pickup.

Under the leadership of Rabbi Sholom Rokeach, Zeh L'Zeh has grown from food distributed out of one small room in 2017 into a major 24/6 food-rescue operation — where families privately select their groceries through a live online platform and individual custom orders are packed for scheduled pickups throughout the week.

The food is rescued. The operation still needs you.

Most of the food itself is donated. But rescuing and distributing over $10.5 million worth of food each year requires staff, refrigeration, utilities, software, packaging, transportation and constant volunteer coordination. Zeh L'Zeh runs at less than 10% of the value of the food distributed — so every donated dollar moves roughly ten dollars of food onto a family's table.

Zeh L'Zeh depends on extensive refrigeration and freezer capacity to keep rescued food fresh and safe. Additional walk-in refrigeration is urgently needed as the operation continues to grow.
